Botox in NYC
Anatomically precise Botox by master injectors at Dr. Lanna Aesthetics — softening expression lines while protecting brow height, eye openness, and the natural way your face moves. Dr. Lanna Cheuck and the LC Medical team have placed Botox more than 10,000 times across patients who travel from across the city, the country, and the world. The result patients describe most often is "still me, but rested." That is the standard. Botox at our Midtown Manhattan flagship is a study in restraint and architecture, not paralysis. Every unit is mapped to your facial anatomy first.

WHAT BOTOX IS
Botulinum Toxin Type A — Placed With Precision
Botox is botulinum toxin type A, a purified neurotoxin that softens dynamic wrinkles by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles. It is FDA-approved for cosmetic use in the forehead, glabella (the "11s" between the brows), and the lateral canthus (crow's feet). Outside cosmetic FDA-approval, master injectors use Botox off-label for the masseter, neck bands, lip flip, gummy smile, and brow lift effects. The mechanism is precise: Botox blocks the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, briefly preventing the targeted muscle from contracting. The skin overlying that muscle stops folding, so the dynamic line — the one that appears when you frown, squint, or raise your brows — softens. Static lines (those visible at rest) require time, repeated treatment, and often complementary modalities like skin boosters or resurfacing. Botox is the most-studied aesthetic injectable in the world. The technique difference is everything. At Dr. Lanna Aesthetics, master injectors approach the face as architecture: brow height, lid aperture, smile dynamics, and resting tone are mapped before the first unit is drawn. That is how a Botox treatment ends with you looking like yourself, not like you had Botox. For K-Beauty patients curious about a different goal — skin smoothness rather than muscle relaxation — see our Meso Botox page, which uses microtoxin technique into the dermis rather than into the muscle belly.
BENEFITS
What Master-Injector Botox Achieves
- Softens dynamic forehead lines, glabellar "11s," and crow's feet — the three FDA-approved cosmetic zones, treated with anatomic mapping rather than a fixed dose template.
- Preserves expression — master-injector dosing protects brow height, lid openness, and smile range so your face still communicates.
- Slim the masseter for a refined lower face — off-label masseter Botox can soften jaw clenching and define the V-line in select candidates.
- Lift the brow without surgery — strategic placement at the lateral orbicularis can open the eye area subtly.
- Reduce a gummy smile or perform a lip flip — micro-doses to the upper lip elevators reveal more vermilion and less gum.
- Calm neck banding — platysmal band injections smooth vertical neck cords for select candidates.
- Investment in long-term facial harmony — consistent Botox slows the etching of static lines because the muscle is not folding the skin daily.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
Who Botox Is — And Isn't — For
Botox is appropriate for adults — typically 25 to 65 — with dynamic facial lines they want softened, or with masseter prominence, neck banding, or other off-label indications a master injector confirms during consultation. Preventative Botox (lower-dose protocols starting in the late 20s and early 30s) is increasingly common for patients who want to address lines before they etch into the skin permanently. Botox is also appropriate for patients whose existing static lines respond to a combined plan — neurotoxin to stop the folding, plus skin boosters, fillers, or resurfacing to address the existing crease. Botox is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in patients with neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS), in patients with a known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin or its excipients, or during active skin infection at the injection site. Honest expectations matter: Botox softens, it does not erase, and a master injector will tell you what Botox can and cannot accomplish for your specific face.
WHAT TO EXPECT
From Consultation Through Maintenance
-
Consultation
Every Botox visit at Dr. Lanna Aesthetics begins with a face-mapping conversation. Your master injector watches you make expressions — frown, raise your brows, smile fully, squint — and identifies the muscles driving the lines you want softened. Brow height, lid symmetry, and resting tone are documented. Photos are taken. Your aesthetic goals — natural softening, preventative protocol, or off-label indications like masseter slimming or a lip flip — shape the dosing plan.
-
Treatment
A typical Botox session at our Midtown flagship runs 15 to 20 minutes, including the consultation portion. The skin is cleansed with antiseptic. Topical numbing is available but most patients decline it for forehead, glabellar, and crow's-feet treatments — the needles are very fine and discomfort is brief. Each injection is precise, mapped to the muscle belly identified during your consultation. You stay upright in a chair, and most patients return to work or errands immediately.
-
Downtime
There is no true downtime. Small bumps at injection sites resolve within 15 to 30 minutes. Mild redness is typical. Avoid lying flat, vigorous exercise, hot showers, and rubbing the treated areas for four hours. Bruising is uncommon with master-injector technique but is possible — a small dot of arnica gel can help.
-
Results Timeline
Onset begins at three to seven days. Full effect is visible at two weeks. The result holds for approximately three to four months for most patients; metabolism, dose, and treatment area influence longevity. A small subset of patients metabolize neurotoxin faster — your master injector will discuss switching to Dysport or Xeomin if Botox underperforms in your specific case.
-
Maintenance
Most Dr. Lanna Aesthetics patients schedule Botox every three to four months. Consistent treatment is part of why you see "natural-looking" results — the muscle never returns to full contraction strength, so static lines have less time to deepen.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox
-
How long does Botox last?
Three to four months on average for the FDA-approved cosmetic zones. Masseter Botox often lasts longer (four to six months); lip flips are shorter (six to eight weeks). Your individual metabolism and dose matter.
-
Will Botox make me look frozen or unnatural?
Not when placed by a master injector. The frozen look is a dosing and placement issue, not a Botox issue. Dr. Lanna's master-injector standard prioritizes preserved expression — your face should still move and communicate.
-
Is Botox safe?
Botox is the most-studied aesthetic injectable globally with decades of safety data. Side effects are generally mild and transient (small bumps, brief redness, occasional bruising). Serious complications are rare in master-injector hands and are discussed during consultation.
-
When will I see results?
Onset at three to seven days; full effect at two weeks. Plan accordingly if you have an event — book Botox at least two weeks in advance.
-
What does Botox feel like?
A brief, fine pinch per injection. Most patients describe forehead Botox as the most tolerable cosmetic injectable. Topical numbing is available on request.
-
Can I work out after Botox?
Avoid vigorous exercise for the first four hours. Light walking is fine. Save your spin class or weightlifting for the next day.
-
What does Botox cost in NYC?
Pricing varies by indication, dosing, and treatment plan. We discuss your investment during consultation rather than publish a unit price — anatomy-driven dosing is not a per-unit commodity.
